Quality Performance Mark for Advocacy West Wales – Eiriolaeth Gorllewin Cymru – October 2020
The Quality Performance Mark for Advocacy Services is the advocacy sector’s benchmark for the provision of quality independent advocacy services.
Advocacy West Wales – Eiriolaeth Gorllewin Cymru has been awarded the QPM for the 3 occasion with an exemplary report.
The assessor found that:
- AWW-EGC showed that they are a highly values led organisation with a passionate, dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable team. The board is well connected to the staff team and the ethos and values of the organisation were clear and consistent across all levels of the organisation
- AWW-ECG demonstrated a strong ‘clarity of purpose’; all members of the team the assessor spoke with demonstrated a sophisticated and consistent understanding of the principles of advocacy in practice and of their roles and the boundaries of these. This is further consolidated by robust and well thought through policies and procedures
- AWW-EGC are well connected within the three counties and have worked hard to ensure that advocacy provision meets the needs of the people it serves through its partnership working with people, communities and commissioners. The Advocacy development role which is hosted by AWW-EGC clearly supports this
- All senior staff provide a small amount of advocacy services themselves and therefore management is grounded in the realities of day to day advocacy delivery
- Strong, collaborative organisational leadership and management that is grounded in the principles of independent advocacy was evident throughout the assessment
- Services were seen to be responsive, respectful and highly person led
- Staff support and wellbeing was seen to be excellent with all advocates reporting feeling extremely well supported by the organisation
Chief Officer Natasha Fox said: “We are all delighted to read such a strong report and felt that this isn’t a snapshot for us but a way of working woven into everything that we do.
We reflect that the continuous journey we are on to improve and develop doesn’t rest here and restart in advance of the next QPM. We are already looking at ways to further improve with the development of additional skills and knowledge training and wellbeing support for our team, improved database/case management systems to improve case recording for clients, data collection and employee experience, and further involvement in development of our regional network and its members. Our aim throughout will be to ensure that we work with our advocacy partners to ensure that they are at the centre of what we do and how we work.
We would like to thank everyone involved with AWW-EGC for their contribution to the organisation, its advocacy development and the achievement of this QPM.”
